Being a destination wedding photographer can take you anywhere at almost anytime. When I got a call from David that he was getting married in Phoenix, Arizona in mid-November, I couldn’t wait to take a short break from the cold here in Vail, Colorado. I drove through a snowstorm to get to the airport for my flight and I was wearing shorts the day before his wedding, loved it.
Photographing David & Trista’s wedding was one of those crazy full circle moments for me. I met David during my freshman year of high school when I attended his school for just the one year and then moved an hour away after that. Meeting him during that short time was complete fate, as we have been friends now for almost 20 years. He is that kind of guy who has a huge heart and always means well…but he’s also about as sarcastic as they come. Probably why we always got along so well. His family has always been one of my favorites and it was like seeing my own when we were reunited.
Knowing David so well, Trista is just the perfect woman for him. When I arrived in Phoenix and we finally met, it was as if I already knew her. She is beyond sweet. So sweet that I couldn’t stop laughing at how David loves to mess with her, because she is sweet enough to take it so well. Trista’s family was so completely welcoming and hospitable, I instantly felt so at home with them. Everyone worked to create such a beautiful and intimate backyard wedding. Her mother made the cakes, her step father cooked a feast for everyone (which was amazing), her sister and brothers hosted and set up for everyone to come together, and it was perfect. I feel truly honored and blessed to have been a part of their wedding, to have the time with them and their families, and to see these two friends begin the rest of their lives together.
Congratulations, David & Trista!
