This is my first time blogging about something other than my wedding events and I thought it would be a perfect way to share the photos from our belated honeymoon this November. Megan & I got married back on May 21, 2016 and after a super busy wedding photography season, we finally got to celebrate our official honeymoon. Our adventure through Iceland, Scotland & Ireland was packed with so many stops in the two weeks that we had planned. We only stayed in the same hotel once for only two nights the entire trip and we covered a lot of ground every day through each country. We slept in a camper van for the two short nights that we were in Iceland and winter was just starting to arrive as we did. The weather was INSANE with non-stop wind, rain, sleet & snow. I managed to get the camera out during the breaks in the weather and we didn’t let it stop us from exploring this insanely beautiful country. Iceland is just amazing and we will be making a much longer visit soon. After two nights in the camper van, a stop at Iceland’s Blue Lagoon was the perfect finish before our flight out.
Once we landed in Edinburgh, Scotland, we immediately realized we should have made our trip longer. We could easily have spent two weeks in any one of these countries and Edinburgh was such a fun city. I put the camera down for most of our time in Scotland/Ireland and made sure to just enjoy my honeymoon :). We left Edinburgh and stayed in the Speyside area of the Scottish highlands and visited some distilleries, had some scotch whisky tastings and stopped off at castles in the countryside (and were visited by a castle cat). We later flew out of Glasgow, Scotland for Dublin, Ireland.
We hit the ground running again in Ireland and visited the Guinness brewery in Dublin and then catching a train the next day to Cork, Ireland. We visited the Jameson Distillery in Midleton/Cork, Ireland and I enjoyed every minute away from my camera (but of course I was using my iphone too haha). When we drove from Cork to the Dingle peninsula the next day, we arrived at Inch Beach just in time for sunset and it was the perfect timing to pull out the big camera again. Ireland was beyond words. The people, the landscape, the food and the accommodations won us over big time. On one of our final nights we stayed at the Ashford Castle in Cong, Ireland and it was such an amazing top off to our honeymoon. The property and the staff made for some of the most loving memories from the trip…and we even got to fly a hawk (Maya) & the Owl (Dingle) at the Ireland School of Falconry just next to the castle. The final set of photos are from one of the forests on the property of the castle before we headed out back to the United States.
We made too many memories to share them all but I hope you enjoy some of the photos we made along the way. It was such a perfect trip for our first time out of the country together and we hope to have many more adventures to come!!
